3 Reasons To Be In A Life Group

Church is not confined to a once a week Sunday morning experience within the four walls of your choosing.

No!

Church happens all the time in different places and takes on various forms when believers meet together.

One of those various forms is a Life Group!

Here are three reasons you should join a Life Group at NCC!

  1. To Connect With Others

The vision of New Covenant is: Connect with God, connect with others, create community.

We believe that you can connect with God and others during a Sunday service; however, really connecting with others in efforts to create community comes from a more intimate and more intentional atmosphere.

There is something about being in a smaller group of people who are in the same area or demographic of life as you are that creates a more open and relaxed atmosphere.

If you enjoy Sunday services but you find yourself always having to rush out due to work, kids, or other commitments, you are missing those times of really getting to connect with people besides the usual “hey, how are you?”

Doing life together – surrounding yourself with other believers who can encourage you and you them – is so much more than just casual high fives on Sunday mornings when the pastor tells you to greet your neighbor.

The body of Christ is meant to build one another up in their faith and spur them on towards their calling and destiny.

How can we do that if we are not taking the time to invest in other people’s lives?

Dr. Gilbert Bilezikian put it like this:

“Community is deeply grounded in the nature of God. It flows from who God is. Because he is community, he creates community. It is his gift of himself to humans. Therefore, the making of community may not be regarded as an optional decision for Christians. It is a compelling and irrevocable necessity, a binding divine mandate for all believers at all times.”

Life Groups gives you the opportunity to form a relationship with people who will walk with you in life – the good and the bad.

It is easier to make that connection with someone in a group of twelve to twenty than it is in a setting of two hundred people.

Connecting with others and creating community is vital to a healthy and growing relationship with God!

  1. To See Personal Growth In Your Faith

As well as connecting with people who you can walk and do life with, Life Groups are an opportunity to grow in your faith.

Because Life Groups are more intimate and formed around certain demographics, they provide a deeper discussion that allows for people to ask questions and provide their outlook and thoughts.

Bouncing thoughts and revelations off other Christian’s stretches and causes us to grow.

Studying the Word together should not be limited to Sundays – Life Groups provides that other opportunity!

  1. They’re Fun!

Whoever said church had to be boring?

As much as Life Groups are centered on growing your faith and connecting with others, they are also meant to be relaxed and fun!

How else are you going to really get to know those around you if you don’t see how competitive they are during a game of Uno?

Life Groups are always changing and offering different forms of fun!

From cookouts, game nights, movie nights, ect. Life Groups are something to look forward to.
