Anyone remember the old Russ Taft song, “Praise the Lord”?
The second verse kept running through my mind:
“Satan is a liar and he wants to make us think
That we are paupers, when we know ourselves
We’re children of the king.
So lift up the mighty shield of faith
For the battle must be won
Remember Jesus Christ has risen
So the works already done.”
Do you ever stop to think of how brazen the enemy is to dare to come against the sons and daughters of almighty God? A daughter in an accident, a family in conflict, a friend struggling with depression, another feeling crushed by the pressures of debt, a dear saint wearied with the care of others, relationships strained from things of no eternal value….
ENOUGH!!! NOOOOO! Wait there’s more to the story… a marriage on the verge… restored(PTL), a long time sufferer of back pain…. Healed(PTL), car accident … daughter safe(PTL), strained relationship…. peace(PTL), financial pressure… He still owns everything (PTL), someone trapped in bitterness and offense…free(PTL), lost…saved(PTL), ….
Rev 11:15-16 “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” NKJV
Isa 9:6-7 “And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,” NKJV
Look over the rest of the song:
When you’re up against a struggle
That’s shattered all your dreams
And your hopes been cruelly crushed
By Satan’s manifested schemes.
And you feel the urge within you
To submit to earthly fears
Don’t let the faith you’re standing in
Seem to disappear
CHORUS:
Praise the Lord. He will work for those who praise him
Praise the Lord. For our God inhabits praise.
Praise the Lord. And those chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you.
As they fall powerless behind you.
When you praise him.
Satan is a liar and he wants to make us think
That we are paupers, when we know ourselves
We’re children of the king.
So lift up the mighty shield of faith
For the battle must be won
Remember Jesus Christ has risen
So the works already done.
CHORUS:
Praise the Lord. He will work for those who praise him
Praise the Lord. For our God inhabits praise.
Praise the Lord. And those chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you.
As they fall powerless behind you.
When you praise him.
No matter the circumstance or situation, “Praise Him”!
