Thursday May 5, 2016 is the National Day of Prayer in America. Let me begin by saying, I am a “forer”! I am for the National Day of Prayer. I am for prayer. I am for the people of America, from coast to coast and everywhere in between, taking time to pray.
I am for special gatherings at convention centers, parks, city hall, schools, churches and anywhere else where people pray. I am for a “special” day set aside and designated for the people of America to pray individually, as families, in small groups, or in large settings.
I am for and thankful for the privilege of living in a nation where people can gather privately and publicly for prayer. I am for people of all ages, races, cultures, socioeconomic and any other group gathering together to pray.
I am for taking the time to give thanks to God for all He has done for America in the past. I am for praying that the protection, provision, favor and blessing of God will be on our nation today and in the future.
I am for the emphasis of 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
I am for people humbling themselves before God in repentance of personal sin and the sins of our nation corporately. I am for all people turning from every wicked way to seek God, His forgiveness, His healing and His blessing for America.
I am for praying for all people and specifically for those in places of authority as directed in
1 Timothy 2:1-2 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
I am completely for all of the above and there are so many other scriptural instructions regarding prayer that I am for. So, let me encourage you to show you are for America and for prayer by being a part of the National Day of Prayer 2016.
Still there is one more thing I am for… I am for making every day a day where our whole nation prays. Let’s make every day a day we put our faith, hope, and trust in God as we pray with all of our heart. As Jesus teaches, let’s look to God every day for “our daily bread”, for His “kingdom to come” and for “His will to be done.” As we do, we can once again become “One Nation Under God.” And that really is something I am for!
